12) Mikael Silvestre
Never really a top performer or regular for Manchester United, Mikael Silvestre was part of their squad that won in the 2007/08 season, before being ditched by the club and allowed to join Arsenal, where he was utterly dreadful.
11) Kanu
Despite some flashes of brilliance for Arsenal, Nwankwo Kanu won’t go down as one of the greats, and was not a particularly major contributor to the Ajax side that won it in 1994/95.

Part of Jose Mourinho’s Porto squad that won the Champions League against all the odds in 2003/04, Benni McCarthy later went on to have one impressive season with Blackburn Rovers, though that was something of a flash in the pan.

Every great team needs its squad players, and the injury-prone and ineffective Jesper Blomqvist was one of those for Manchester United in 1999 as they won the treble.
8) Anderson
A decent player when he first joined United, Anderson must now go down as a total flop for the club after many seasons of mediocrity. Still, he scored in the shoot-out win over Chelsea in 2008 to take Europe’s top prize.

A truly woeful Liverpool defender, Djimi Traore makes a strong case for being the absolute worst player to ever lift the Champions League trophy.

A hard worker but ultimately poor player, Igor Biscan is another surprise name that formed part of the victorious Liverpool team of 2004/05.

A promising player when he joined Liverpool, but aside from winning the Champions League in 2005, Djibril Cisse has not had a great career by any means.

Not to downplay Liverpool’s Istanbul triumph, but Milan Baros is another extremely poor player that made up that Reds squad who claimed a truly miraculous victory over AC Milan.

Harsh perhaps, but the Fernando Torres we saw at Chelsea truly was an awful player. The Spaniard played his part in Chelsea’s 2012 triumph, scoring in the semi-final victory over Barcelona, but he got a bit lucky with this particular winners’ medal.
2) Scott Carson
An error-prone goalkeeper who has flopped at most clubs, Scott Carson was yet another totally average Liverpool player in the 2005 squad, though admittedly he was not first choice for the Reds.
