The Premier League saw some great goals this week from teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal, and perhaps more surprisingly Stoke City.

There was a flood of goals, with QPR, the Gunners, and Swansea City all recording big wins over close rivals, as well as a fiercely contested Tyne-Wear derby.

Here are the five best…

5) Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal 3-0 Liverpool (finished 4-1)

The North London club answered some of their critics in their big win over the Reds, with it proving that they may well be completely over their big game nerves. Sanchez had the pick of their four goals, smashing in a volley from outside the box.

4) Bobby Zamora, West Brom 0-3 QPR (finished 1-4)

A cheeky lob from the experienced forward, and possibly one of the best goals he has ever scored. Perhaps more importantly this could kick-start a charge for survival from the Rs.

3) Wayne Rooney, Manchester United 2-0 Aston Villa (finished 3-1)

Not many players have the ability to do this, but the England captain is one of them. He’s very unlucky that this was scored on the same weekend that there was a glut of wonder goals.

2) Jermaine Defoe, Sunderland 1-0 Newcastle United (finished 1-0)

A volley that deserved to settle the derby fixture. It was so good that the 32-year-old appeared to be crying as he left the field at half time!

1) Charlie Adam, Chelsea 1-1 Stoke City (finished 2-1)

Although it is the only goal in a defeat here, not many in the whole campaign are better than this 65 yard strike. Is Charlie Adam already a shoo-in for goals of the season?
