The full-back was once considered to be the bright young thing of French football and arrived at the Parc des Princes amid much fanfare in 2013.

He had already demonstrated his class in Ligue 1 with LOSC Lille and looked set to be the future at left-back for both the French national side and PSG.

The early signs were positive and Digne impressed during his first season in the capital, improving defensively and demonstrating the sort of attacking impulse that made him stand out in the first place.

However, this season has been tougher and the defender was broadly criticised for his poor showing in the reigning champions’ 3-2 defeat at the hands of Girondins de Bordeaux.

With first-choice left-back Maxwell recently extending his contract with PSG, it’s hard to see Digne muscling his way into the side any time soon.

His situation has prompted journalist Dominique Severac, speaking to Le Parisien [via Parischampions], to admit that his future is uncertain.

“Yes, it is possible that Digne leaves,” he began, “in a team the substitutes wear out the fastest.”
