Old Trafford side close in on Southampton right-back capture.
Man United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne according to the Metro.
The 24 year old England man is set to turn down the offer of a new Saints contract and in doing so will increase the chances of an apparent £25m move to Old Trafford according to this source.
Man United successfully land Luke Shaw from the south-coast side last summer and clearly Louis van Gaal has not been convinced by the displays put in by Luis Antonio Valencia and Rafael, hence his growing interest in Clyne.
The former Crystal Palace man has been in fine form this term, leading to a call-up to England’s senior set-up, and having seen a host of his team-mates complete ‘high-profile’ St Mary’s exits it seems Clyne is keen to do likewise.
Ronald Koeman’s side were in superb form for the first half of the campaign, when a top four finish was even a possibility, but perhaps unsurprisingly Southampton were unable to keep up with that level of form and this could well have left Clyne all the more interested in a move to Man United.
