AS Monaco star Aymen Abdennour’s agent Abdelkader Jilani has confirmed that Liverpool, Barcelona, Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter Milan are all in contact about his client, reports the Metro.
The 25-year-old has draw this interest after being very impressive for the principality based side last season. He was an important part of a defence that conceded just 26 goals in the 38 Ligue 1 matches, starting in 17 of the games. Injuries contributed towards him missing most of the games that he did, meaning that the Tunisia international could have been more important than he was.
Liverpool are in need of a defender after the failure of Dejan Lovren to adapt to life at Anfield, as well the questionable form of Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure at times last time round. Emre Can moving back in to midfield next season, which will happen according to the Daily Mail, will only make matters worse.
Able to play at either left-back or centre-back, Abdennour can cover several bases for the Reds. His passing ability also means that he would fit in to manager Brendan Rodgers’ style of play. However, the Northern Irishman is going to have to fight off some fierce competition in order to get his man.
The player’s representative said: “There are clubs who have approached us and who will enter into contact with Monaco. There is AC Milan, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Liverpool. Juventus, they’ve already seen Monaco. I don’t think that Monaco will prevent Abdennour from leaving.”
