The Frenchman was named among the list of players that have been let go by the club [via Arsenal.com] and it’s safe to say many are genuinely upset that Diaby will not be at the club next season.
Diaby’s time in North London will be largely remembered for his numerous injury problems and has been limited to just one start in the last two campaigns.
That sole start came in the Capital One Cup tie at the Emirates Stadium against Southampton last September, where he impressed for just over an hour before being substituted.
The 29-year-old would then be restricted to reserve and U21 fixtures for the remainder of the campaign as his wretched injury record has eventually cost him his future at the club.
Take a look at a selection of tweets from some Gunners fans reacting to the news.

Abou Diaby is a very tough guy who has bounced from so many setbacks previously. Hopefully he finds a new club and plays some football.

I’m devastated by the news that Diaby is leaving Arsenal. If only he could have stayed fit he would have been a world beater! #ThanksAbou

A fully fit Abou Diaby would walk into most teams in the Premier League. It’s a shame, but the right decision has been taken. Wish him well.

Remember seeing Diaby play for France under-19s and his talent was breathtaking. A great pity injuries have stopped him from fulfilling it.
