Arsenal transfer news: Ranking Gunners’ top five striker targets, including £27m Man City ace

Arsenal’s striker targets ranked from worst to best.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger appears to be after a new striker signing this summer, with several big names linked with the Gunners in recent weeks, so here’s our take on who’d be most ideal…

5) Edin Dzeko (Manchester City)

A strong and prolific Premier League striker, Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer in a surprise move, which probably looks a little risky. The Bosnian international has his moments, but has not looked worth the £27m the club paid Wolfsburg for him.

4) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)

Linked with a big-money move to Arsenal, Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is another of the club’s top targets, but he also has a tendancy for missing big chances in crucial moments, plus he could cost as much as £67m due to a clause in his contract.

3) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund)

A £30m target for Arsenal, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a superb player who’d fit in well at the Emirates Stadium, but this move may not lead anywhere as Borussia Dortmund insist they will not be selling him this summer.

2) Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)

Another top class striker with a great future, Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette would be perfect for Arsenal, but again seems out of reach as Lyon insist they want to keep him, while the player himself has also hinted he will stay where he is for the time being.

1) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

Perhaps the best option for Arsenal, Real Madrid star Karim Benzema has been world class for a long time now and could still have some of his best years ahead of him, despite falling out of favour at the Bernabeu.
