Manchester United plot raid to sign talented Sporting Lisbon youngster (not William Carvalho)

Reds set sights on 23-year-old who’d go straight into the starting XI.

Manchester United are planning a January move to sign Sporting Lisbon defender Paulo Oliveira after Louis van Gaal sent scouts to watch him play recently.

The 23-year-old is a top talent who has really caught the eye since joining Sporting for just over £1m last season, and it looks like he could do a job in this United team that has been short of options at the back.

The Red Devils have had to move Daley Blind into the centre alongside Chris Smalling this season, having missed out on big-name targets like Sergio Ramos, Nicolas Otamendi and Mats Hummels in the summer.

According to the Daily Star, this could now see United turn their attention to Oliveira as one of their main targets for when the transfer window re-opens in the winter.
