Liverpool face fresh competition from European giants for striking transfer target

Liverpool face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for Stade Rennais forward Paul-George Ntep according to reports in France.

Speaking to L’Equipe [via Le 10 Sport], former PSG defender Sylvain Armand has admitted that he believes the French giants are keen on bringing the international frontman to the Parc des Princes.

“He certainly has the potential to go there, but can he succeed there…that would be something else!

“I believe PSG have an eye on him. I’m sure of it, in fact.”

However, the reigning French champions may yet face competition from Anfield, with Liverpool linked with a move for Ntep during the summer.

The Franco-Cameroonian frontman was reportedly spotted on Merseyside during the summer, and while he denied suggestions that he was on the brink of a move to Liverpool, the rumours have persisted.

The Reds have not been firing on all cylinders so far this season in attack; Daniel Sturridge is injured again, Divock Origi has yet to ignite, and Christian Benteke has already had his fitness troubles.

Ntep, who is a versatile operator who has pace to burn and fine finishing ability, is surely destined for a higher stage than Rennes, and both PSG and Liverpool would represent promising career progression.

To date, the 23-year-old has two goals and two assists in his five Ligue 1 matches to date.
