Arsenal look to sign teenage wonderkid from Manchester City academy

Arsenal are reportedly hoping to sign talented youngster Tyrese Campbell, son of former Gunners striker Kevin, from Manchester City.

The 15-year-old is widely considered one of the top prospects in the country, and he proved his ability by scoring 49 goals for City’s Under-16 side last season.

As a result, his performances have attracted attention outside of the Etihad and alerted scouts from Arsenal in particular with the Gunners now potentially making a move to take him to London, according to The Daily Mail.

Although City will naturally want to avoid losing a possible star of the future, it remains to be seen whether or not the draw of following in his father’s footsteps is too much to ignore for Campbell.

Regardless, it is expected that the main factor that will be taken into consideration is which setting will allow him to develop his talent and become an integral part of a club’s future.

Campbell Sr. played 166 times for Arsenal and scored 46 goals for the club, and the sentimental element of the situation could well play a part in the final decision.

However, he will undoubtedly have the best interests of his son in mind and will advise accordingly as Arsenal and City cross paths in a crucial Premier League clash on Monday night with both sides hoping to pick up a result in what could be a significant game for their titles hopes.
