Liverpool plot move for excellent PSG striker as fourth summer signing

If Liverpool have any hope of making noise next year in domestic cups or getting back into European competition they’ll need more big-time goal scoring options. Fortunately for Liverpool, the Reds seem to have as high-profile a name as there is on the transfer radar.

According to HITC via TuttoMercatoWeb, Liverpool have set their sights on Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani – adding the Uruguayan ace to a high-profile shortlist of strikers that already includes Gonzalo Higuain – and are hoping to bring him to Anfield this summer.

Last year Liverpool finished in eighth place and failed to qualify for either the Champions League or Europa League. But the lure of working with manager Jurgen Klopp has apparently been strong enough to keep the club in contention for top targets.

Cavani set a personal best in league goals for his three-year tenure with PSG during the 2015-16 season, netting 19 times in Ligue 1 this past year.

Liverpool have already made three signings since Jurgen Klopp became manager: Joel Matip, Marko Grujic and Loris Karius.
