Chelsea ask about Premier League scoring genius, £60m fee the response

Dimitri Payet‘s strong performance in the Euro 2016 opener for France against Romania is driving his future transfer price sky high, which may prove problematic for Chelsea as they enter the Europe-wide transfer race for the West Ham scoring wizard.

According to the Express, Chelsea are the latest club to make an inquiry to West Ham United about acquiring the French winger. Per the source, West Ham will not let him go cheap and are asking for £60 million for his potential release – a number that would break the Premier League transfer record.

It may prove a hard task to pry Payet from West Ham as the club recently gave him a massive contract extension and a raise, boosting his wages to £125,000-a-week back in February.

West Ham acquired Payet from Marseille for £10.7 million last year, and he rewarded their investment with nine goals and 12 assists along with club records in points taken and goals scored en route to PFA Team of the Year honours.
