Indecisive Arsenal fans have their say on where Arsene Wenger should play Alexis Sanchez

The official Arsenal Twitter account ran a poll on Friday to determine where supporters thought Alexis Sanchez was most influential for the team.

While the Chilean international has predominantly been used on the flanks during his career thus far, he has been played through the middle up front by Arsene Wenger in recent games with Olivier Giroud out of the line-up.

Sanchez played a crucial role in the win over Chelsea last weekend and followed that up with a decisive performance against Basel in the Champions League in midweek.

In turn, the 27-year-old now has five goals and five assists in eight games so far this season, but Arsenal fans are still torn on his best position.

Supporters were given three options, with their preference either seeing Sanchez on the wing, as a No.10 or a striker, with the second option coming in third place with just 15 percent of the votes, from a total of 8,488 votes cast.

On the wing was second with 41 percent, narrowly missing out to as a striker which collected 44 percent of the votes.

As per Arsenal.com, Wenger confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Friday that Giroud is ruled out of facing Burnley this weekend, which suggests that Sanchez will continue up front in his absence.

As a result, it’s more than possible that the former Udinese and Barcelona star will further stake his claim to continue as a striker with another impressive display, although he may well be forced to return to his usual role when Giroud recovers from injury.

Sanchez’s form will be crucial to Arsenal’s success this season in whichever position he is deployed, as the Gunners look to continue to build momentum having now gone eight games unbeaten in all competitions.
