Arsenal are so often criticised for lacking bottle and crumbling when it matters most, but this surprise stat from Opta expert Orbinho certainly contradicts that stereotype.
The Gunners went 1-0 down early on against Southampton today, but managed an 88th minute equaliser through super-sub Olivier Giroud to put them top of the Premier League in one area at least.
The point this afternoon now makes it ten Arsene Wenger’s side have rescued from losing positions this season – more than any other team in the division.

Now, while it’s certainly true that Arsenal could do better not to fall behind so much, and that the likes of Manchester City and United probably just find themselves going in front and staying there far more often, it’s still an impressive feat.
It just goes to show that Arsenal are never beaten, and that they deserve some credit for breaking past a dogged and determined Saints side today.
Lesser sides would crumble and perhaps leave themselves vulnerable to conceding more, but Arsenal’s patient, possession-based approach always means they’re in with a chance.
