Medical done: Liverpool starlet on verge of new loan exit, announcement expected in next 48 hours

Liverpool are reportedly set to send teenager Anderson Arroyo out on loan again this season with reports linking him with a move to join Gent.

The 18-year-old signed for the Reds from Fortaleza CEIF earlier this year, but was immediately sent out on loan to Real Mallorca where he featured for their ‘B’ team last season.

Although that deal was expected to run for 18 months, it has now been decided that the young defensive ace will instead move to Gent this season to continue his development, as per Goal.com.

While Liverpool have undoubtedly spotted something in him to show the faith to take him to Anfield, he remains a raw talent with a lack of experience, and so loan spells are arguably the most sensible option at this stage of his career.

Moving to Gent will give him a possible opportunity to play regularly and mature as a player, and coupled with the fact that Jurgen Klopp already has countless options and depth in defence behind Virgil van Dijk and Dejan Lovren, it’s unlikely that he would get many chances, if any, to impress for Liverpool this season.

According to Goal, Arroyo underwent his medical on Wednesday and while he’ll be at the club’s Europa League clash with Bordeaux on Thursday, an announcement is expected in the next two days.

Naturally, Klopp and the Liverpool staff will keep an eye on his progress over the course of the campaign, but to be able to settle and find his feet in Europe without the scrutiny and pressure that comes with playing at the highest level in England, it seems like a very sensible strategy from the club.

Time will tell though if it works out as desired and he eventually makes an impression at senior level for the Reds in the future.
