Chelsea have already identified their replacement for Man United bound Mason Mount

With just a medical to pass over the weekend, the Mason Mount to Man United saga is likely to soon be over, with Chelsea able to move on and look for his replacement.

The Blues have somehow managed to offload multiple first-team and fringe players already during this summer transfer window, as Financial Fair Play restrictions have come back to haunt Todd Boehly and the west Londoners.

It’s believed that Mount actually wanted to stay at the club but was unhappy with certain issues including his low salary, but with Chelsea apparently unwilling to bend in that regard, it left the England international no other choice than to leave the club of his life.

Gabri Veiga to Chelsea?

Now that he’s already being seen as another club’s employee, it appears that the Blues are moving quickly to secure his replacement.

According to the Evening Standard, Celta Vigo’s young superstar, Gabri Veiga, who has a release clause of €34.6m, is being targeted.

The 21-year-old will go down in club folklore with the Galician outfit, after his two goals against Barcelona on the final day of La Liga’s 2022/23 season saw the Catalans beaten and Celta stay up by the skin of their teeth.

Whether he’s ready to make the jump to a major Premier League club at this stage of his career is a moot point, and it will be interesting to see how he responds to Chelsea’s overtures.
