Ian Wright heaps praise on ‘brilliant’ Crystal Palace star after Fulham draw

Crystal Palace managed to grind out a draw against Fulham yesterday and popular pundit Ian Wright has heaped praise on Adam Wharton for his performance.

The 20-year-old Crystal Palace midfielder produced another assured display in the middle of the park, and he continues to impress with his mature performances in the Premier League.

Wharton has managed to hit the ground running in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace for a fee of around £22 million at the start of the year. Initially, he was expected to take some time to adapt to the top flight, but he seems to have adjusted quickly.

The midfielder is certainly a key player for Crystal Palace now and his composure, defensive contribution and passing ability have added a new dimension to the Crystal Palace midfield. He has formed a solid partnership with Will Hughes in the middle of the park.

Ian Wright has now explained that the 20-year-old Crystal Palace midfielder is a tremendous prospect and he likened Wharton to a Rolls-Royce.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright also added that Crystal Palace have a lot to be excited about, and they are starting to put together a talented core at Selhurst Park.

He said on BBC MOTD: “I want to give him some flowers he’s been brilliant. He’s so calm, so cool. You can see the excitement at Palace, and they should be excited with him, Eze, Olise, Mateta, who’s really kicked on.

“He’s just got this real calm, Rolls-Royce kind of calmness to him. His passing, I like the fact that he and Will Hughes are in there as well.”

The 20-year-old midfielder is likely to improve further with coaching and experience. It remains to be seen whether he can establish himself as one of the best central midfielders in the league in the coming seasons.
