Chelsea set to tempt Palace into parting with key man as Sterling heads out

With the 2023/24 Premier League season on the verge of ending, Chelsea already appear to be putting the feelers in place for getting certain deals done.

Nothing will happen until the summer transfer window opens for business on July 1 of course, however, the Blues can have everything ready to go as soon and as soon as they’re able to execute, they’ll just need signatures to complete all of the paperwork.

According to Fichajes, one player that doesn’t have a future at Stamford Bridge is England international, Raheem Sterling.

Chelsea want Michael Olise

It isn’t clear where the 29-year-old sees his future at this point, but given his poor form for the West Londoners there might be reticence on the part of fellow Premier League sides to land him.

That said, the outlet also note that Chelsea intend to try and tempt London rivals, Crystal Palace, to part with their star man, Michael Olise, and they may offer players to the Eagles to help seal the deal.

Though Fichajes don’t directly link Sterling with a move to Palace, it’s entirely possible that a conversation could be had further down the line.

It would require the hierarchy at Selhurst Park to be willing to part with €60m-rated Olise in the first instance, and that’s by no means a given, particularly as owner, Steve Parish, was able to keep the player from Chelsea’s clutches back in August last year.

Much is likely to also depend on manager, Oliver Glasner’s point of view.

The manager is starting to build something special at the club as recent results would attest, and he’ll likely want to keep as many of his current playing staff together as he can.

Should Olise intimate that he is tempted – again – by a move to Stamford Bridge, that could change the transfer landscape dramatically, and then there will be almost certainly be conversations to be had as to who could be making their way to South London.
