Old Trafford side target Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder.
Man United are readying a summer move for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Douglas Costa according to Italian source TuttoMercato.
The 22 year old Brazilian has been a big hit since his move to Ukraine in January 2010, helping his side to three successive domestic titles, scoring goals and providing assists with regularity.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to bring in reinforcements in the midfield after finding himself lacking in options out wide. Costa’s preferred role is in a creative position in the middle of the park but the Brazilian has the versatility to also play on the left-wing.
Man United could well do with some goal-scoring options from his midfield as the likes of Michael Carrick, Anderson, Darren Fletcher and Tom Cleverley do not offer much in that regard, this situation is even more pronounced when you consider that wide-men Ashley Young and Luis Antonio Valencia haven’t picked up a Premier League goal between them this season.
The Old Trafford side are said to be ready to offer £20m for Costa and the presence of compatriots Rafael and Anderson may well further tempt the former Gremio man to a move to the Premier League table toppers.
