Man United are reportedly readying moves to step-up their interest in FC Porto forward Jackson Martinez leading to speculation that Robin Van Persie may leave the Old Trafford side this summer.

Football Direct News claim that David Moyes personally scouted the Colombian forward, who has a £34m release clause that the Scot is ready to trigger.

Martinez has been a big hit since moving to Portugal, scoring 58 goals in 86 appearances, but with his side set to surrender their Primeira Liga title there is every chance the 25 year old could be tempted by a move to Man United.

Robin Van Persie has been out injured for the last month though Man United have managed to score ten goals in their last four Premier League fixtures without the Dutchman so could feel able to consider losing the former Arsenal man.

Martinez is likely to star in the 2014 World Cup finals so Moyes may well look to complete a deal to sign the forward before the tournament begins to avoid getting involved in a bidding war.
