With David Moyes’s services have been dispensed with Man United plans to bring in top quality summer signings continues apace.

CaughtOffside understands Old Trafford chief executive Ed Woodward is looking to close deals to sign four high profile players with Man United set to open talks with Dutch national team coach Louis van Gaal as they seek to bring in the former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager to replace Moyes.

Man United will re-ignite their interest in Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who has been the subject of a fair bit of abuse from the Nou Camp faithful.

The former Arsenal man has become something of a scapegoat for a less than spectacular season that could well end with Gerardo Martino’s side failing to secure any silverware.

Fabregas is Barcelona’s leading assist maker this term and Man United are ready to put in an increased bid having seen previous offers turned down by the Catalan side and a club record offer of £40m will be registered.

The 26 year old Spaniard is not the only midfielder on the Man United wish-list as Woodward also looks to seal a move for long term target Toni Kroos, who is still to put pen to paper on a new Bayern Munich contract.

The midfield schemer has been looking to secure a pay-rise that would see his reported £60k a week wages more than doubled as he seeks to get parity with the likes of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben. The Allianz Arena have refused to play ball and Kroos was left warming the bench at one point during the season during the contractual negotiations.

Man United are ready to offer the 24 year old as much as £200k a week and with just over a year to run on his current deal Woodward is confident he can tempt Bayern Munich into selling the German international.

The Premier League side will look to strengthen and freshen up a back-line that will see Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra all leave in the summer when their contracts expire and with a view to replace the French left-back Man United will make an approach for highly rated Southampton left-back Luke Shaw.

The 18 year old has matured into an excellent prospect over the course of an excellent season that could well lead to a spot in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the 2014 World Cup finals.

Man United are ready to offer up to £22m for the teenager though Chelsea are also thought to be keen on signing the St Mary’s star.

Woodward will also look to initiate talks with Real Madrid as Man United earmark a move for young centre-back Raphael Varane, who has failed to secure a prominent role at the Bernabeu under boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The French international impressed greatly during Jose Mourinho’s reign at the Spanish giants but has made just nine La Liga starts this season and the 20 year old could be tempted by a move to Man United.

Real Madrid have their sights set on a big striker signing this summer with Premier League pair Sergio Aguero and Luis Suarez on Ancelotti’s wish-list, and as such they may need to trim their squad in order to balance the books and Man United will hope that a bid of around £20m will tempt president Florentino Perez into selling the former Lens man.

As well as looking to bring in a number of top quality additions there are a fair few players who could be set to leave in the summer and the likes of Tom Cleverley, Anderson, Ashley Young, Shinji Kagawa, Javier Hernandez, Alexander Buttner and even summer signing Marouane Fellaini are all in danger of being sold to make way for new arrivals.
