The adaptable 22 year old can play at both centre-back and left-back and could well be tempted by the chance to follow his national team coach to Man United.

With Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra all set to leave the Premier League side have quite a task re-building their back-line and van Gaal clearly knows Indi well enough to believe he can help fill the void that has been left by the departure of the long serving trio.

Indi has completed four seasons in Feyenoord’s first team set-up and has represented Holland on 13 occasions.

Van Gaal will no doubt be handed significant funds to improve the Man United squad after their fairly disastrous season though without the carrot of either Champions or Europa League football to offer prospective targets the experienced former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager may have his work cut out landing his top targets.
