The Dutch international is currently out with a long term knee injury that has left the 24 year old out of action since March and meant the talented Stadio Olimpico star missed out on a spot in Louis van Gaal’s World Cup finals squad.
Strootman is not likely to return to action until December though he is a player van Gaal wants to bring to Old Trafford as he seeks to strengthen his squad ahead of a concerted push for a Premier League title.
Man United will have to fork out £25m for the former PSV Eindhoven man, who only moved to the Italian capital a year ago.
The box to box performer had a superb first season in Serie A and is a player who could certainly act as part of a much needed clear-up of Man United’s current midfield contingent.
Strootman is strong in the tackle and is an excellent distributor of the ball whilst also being a real threat in the final third, the rangy midfielder also has the capability to fire home stunning long range efforts.
