Yes the transfer window has just closed but ‘wheeler-dealer’ Harry Redknapp is already making plans for January with talkSPORT quoting the QPR boss as stating that a move to bring in Jermain Defoe in January is ‘likely’.

QPR saw Loic Remy join Chelsea and as such could certainly have done with another striker signing and it appears that the west London side tried hard to bring in the Toronto FC man on deadline day.

“We tried all day with Jermain Defoe. He was keen to come. We agreed a deal with Toronto but they wouldn’t release him now. We could do a deal and then take him in January but we wanted to get someone in today.

“There is every chance he will come in January. I’m a big fan of Jermain’s. Almost certainly, I think we will [go back in for him]. I’ve signed him so many times. I’ve taken him everywhere.”

The Super Hoops have scored just one goal in three Premier League fixtures so may struggle to accrue points this term though Redknapp did have some success on deadline-day.

Redknapp welcomed in his former Spurs charge Sandro, following a reported £10m deal, and once again teams up with Croatian attacker Niko Kranjcar.
