Adnan Januzaj must wait his turn at Old Trafford.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has told Adnan Januzaj that he must be patient when it comes to waiting for his opportunity in the first team at Old Trafford, report the Daily Star, following reports that the Belgian was getting cold feet having failed to start a game under van Gaal so far.

Januzaj was a regular for United during their disappointing 2013/14 Premier League campaign after being promoted to the first team under former manager David Moyes and proving to be one of few bright spots in a poor campaign for the club, leading to a fight over his international future that was eventually win by Belgium, who took him to the 2014 FIFA World Cup during the summer.

Signings such as Angel di Maria this summer have pushed Januzaj back in the pecking order however, and Louis van Gaal has told the 19 year-old that he will need to be patient when it comes to earning his place back in the United starting XI:

“With this system he has to compete with a lot of potentially very strong strikers. When we play 4-3-3 then he should have maybe more chances but it also depends on the system we play. When I have changed my system he played.”

With United having moved away from the 3-4-1-2 system that van Gaal was operating at the start of the season it could give increased opportunities to Januzaj, although the attacking talent at Old Trafford could make it difficult for the teenager to make his name at the club.
