Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has his eye on Manchester United target Bruno Martins Indi ahead of a January transfer, reports the Daily Star

The Dutch defender only moved to Porto this summer, but his form has already seen him linked to a move away.

Koeman has worked with Martins Indi before during his time in Eredivise, and following the Saints’ fantastic start to the season he is looking to bolster his squad in January.

Fellow Dutchman and Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is also keen on 22-year-old Martins Indi, but Koeman has high hopes of snagging the player first.

Southampton saw a mass exodus this summer, with many fearing for their Premier League security. Their new boss navigated the transfer market superbly however, and Martins Indi could be his next fantastic signing.

Southampton are currently sat second in the Premier League, and with European football the target this season Martins Indi could be persuaded to make the switch.

Manchester United have been suffering a defensive crisis this season and could badly use the reinforcements in January, but at the moment it looks like Southampton are in pole position to land the Dutch international.
