The QPR defender claims his old boss was so angry with the team that he spat “phlegm everywhere” during his rant.

“There was phlegm everywhere,” he said.

“It was against Bayern Munich. I didn’t agree with some of his decisions and I was screaming in the tunnel.

“I sat down and he came over and absolutely unloaded on me.”

Ferdinand didn’t specify which match it was, but it was either their 2-1 defeat against the Bundesliga giants in 2010, or the 3-2 win against them in the second leg; which still saw them knocked out on away goals.

Neither man is still at Old Trafford, but both will most certainly go down as legends at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Although United endured a poor start to the season, Louis van Gaal has since guided his new side into the top four. They may not have been playing their best football this campaign, but it’s the results that count, and they are in the midst of a fantastic run of results.
