The 28-year-old has only scored once since arriving at Old Trafford on a season-long loan deal, which was met with great excitement initially before proving something of a failed move by manager Louis van Gaal.

United now seem set to let Falcao return to Monaco at the end of the season, and the club will look to bring in another big name to come in upfront, with van Gaal showing he is not afraid to spend the big bucks in the transfer market.

Big names such as Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw also joined the Red Devils this summer alongside Falcao, and United could now line up with an exciting new-look attack next season.

Falcao has only managed to make the bench for today’s game against Liverpool, with youngster James Wilson preferred alongside Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie at Old Trafford.
