The Old Trafford side have apparently already begun talks with the Bundesliga side with Louis van Gaal keen to trigger the 25 year old’s £20m release clause.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are all tracking the German international and given just how poor the Westfalenstadion side are performing it’s seems entirely plausible that Reus would look to leave Borussia Dortmund in January.

Jurgen Klopp’s side sit in 16th spot in the Bundesliga, just a point from he very bottom of the table, having lost an astonishing nine games out of their opening 15 fixtures.

Reus has proven a great success since moving from Borussia Monchengladbach to join Dortmund two and a half years ago, netting 47 goals from 99 appearances.

It’s not instantly obvious as to where he would fit into van Gaal’s plans but Reus is versatile enough to feature in wide-attacking roles, in an advanced central midfield role or indeed up front.
