The 19 year old has struggled to force his way into Louis van Gaal’s first team set-up and is said to be frustrated with his situation though has only recently signed a five year contract with the club so a loan move seems far more likely than any potential permanent exit.

The presence of Belgium national team colleagues Kevin Mirallas and Romelu Lukaku could add further motivation for a temporary move to the Merseyside outfit and one imagines Man United would prefer a loan move to another Premier League side so as to boost his experience at that level.

Martinez is under a little pressure after a less than glorious start to the season and the addition of Januzaj could help spark life into his attack and given them a renewed push to climb the Premier League table and the teenager would of course also be available for Europa League action.
