Arsenal transfer news: Gunners standing firm as Juventus swoop for star player

Arsenal are understood to have batted away a Juventus approach for star forward Alexis Sanchez.

The Daily Mail claims that the 27-year-old Chilean is a target of several clubs this summer but Arsene Wenger has no intention of selling the man who could eventually spearhead a Premier League triumph.

The same source understands that Sanchez could be unsettled at the Emirates Stadium after seeing his Arsenal fall well short again in the title race and fail to make any impact in the Champions League.

Sanchez has scored 25 and 17 goals respectively in his two seasons since joining Arsenal from Barcelona and would be a great addition for Juventus, who have lost striker Alvaro Morata back to Real Madrid.

But Wenger must keep hold of the South American and build his squad around him. Granit Xhaka has already arrived this summer and a striker and defender should follow to boost Arsenal’s title chances.

After being told no by the Gunners, the Italian giants are going after former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, according to the Daily Mail. He scored 30 in 53 for Bayer Leverkusen last season.
