Agent confirms Manchester United interest in 18-year-old Spanish starlet

Manchester United have reportedly made contact with the agent of Valencia starlet Fran Villalba with regards to a possible move to Old Trafford in January.

It’s claimed by Sport Witness that United have been tracking the 18-year-old for months, with boss Jose Mourinho keen to add him to his squad.

In the latest development, the player’s agent has claimed that the Red Devils have made contact over a move to Manchester.

It’s added in the report that Villalba has a £3.6m buy-out clause in his current contract, but that isn’t likely to be an issue for United who have proven over countless years that they have the resources to spend on players that they believe in.

Speaking to Sport Witness, the player’s agent, Vicente Fores said: “With me, just contact to know the situation. They are already aware.

“I don’t know about Valencia, but I reckon they will make it hard.”

If United’s interest is genuine, it would come as no surprise that they’re looking to reinforce their midfield with Mourinho seemingly making it clear so far this season that neither Bastian Schweinsteiger nor Morgan Schneiderlin have a major role to play for him moving forward.

Combined with the fact that Michael Carrick turns 36 next year, more quality, depth and youth is needed in the United squad in midfield.

Whether or not Villalba will be given the chance to fill that gap remains to be seen, but it appears as though United are monitoring him and will keep a close eye on his progress with a view of making a move in January and helping his development from next year onwards.
