Jose Mourinho snubbed as 18-year-old Manchester United target opts to sign new deal instead

Valencia midfielder Fran Villalba has decided to snub Manchester United and has signed a new contract with the La Liga outfit instead.

As noted by The Sun, the 18-year-old was being monitored by the Red Devils who were keen on signing him despite a £3.6m release clause in his previous deal.

Given that his agent admitted that there was interest, it appeared as though a move to Old Trafford was a real possibility, but that has now been dismissed after the youngster revealed he has signed a new contract with Valencia which keeps him at the club until 2020.

After making his debut for the first team last season, Villalba has quickly emerged as one of the top talents from Spain having already been capped at Under-19s level.

However, it doesn’t appear as though a move to England is in his future, with his main priority now being breaking into Cesare Prandelli’s side and establishing himself in the starting line-up in order to make his time at the Mestalla a successful one.

“Very happy to renew my contract for four more years with the team of my life,” he wrote on Twitter, as seen below. “Now it’s time to work hard to add my grain of salt to this great club.”
