French international striker leaves Loftus Road to join Qatari club Al Gharafa.

Check in to QPR vs Manchester City

Striker Djibril Cisse has completed his move away from Queens Park Rangers after joining Qatari side Al Gharafa on loan until the end of the season, the club have confirmed.

French international Cisse was told he could leave Loftus Road in the January transfer window after QPR boss moved to bring in Loic Remy, who scored on his debut in a 1-1 draw at West Ham on Saturday, from Marseille.

And ex-Liverpool and Sunderland forward Cisse has left QPR less than a year after joining the club during last year’s January transfer window when former manager Mark Hughes bought him from Lazio.

The 31-year-old was a regular under Hughes and helped keep QPR in the Premier League last season. But he was dropped to the bench following the arrival of Harry Redknapp as manager and was given the all-clear to leave on loan after Remy was signed for £8million.

Cisse, who scored 10 times in 28 games in total for QPR, links up with fellow Frenchman Alain Perrin at Al Gharafa with the former Portsmouth manager in charge of the Qatari club until the end of the current domestic campaign in the Arab state.
