United to go head-to-head with Gunners for Frenchman.
Portugese website Abola claims that Manchester United will rival Arsenal for Valencia defender Adil Rami.
The Valencia man has been linked with a move away from the La Liga club this summer, with Arsenal reportedly seeing him as an ideal candidate to replace Thomas Vermaelen.
The Gunners skipper has suffered a loss of form this season, and has recently been dropped from the starting lineup by Arsene Wenger, who could do with alternatives to current first-choice central defensive pairing Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.
The Arsenal manager has a good eye on the French market, and knows Rami from his days in Ligue 1 with Lille. However, it is understood that the 27-year-old would favour a move to a club where he’d be guaranteed regular games, as he looks to establish himself in the French national side ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
Manchester United have been linked with some defenders too, and may compete with Arsenal as Sir Alex Ferguson sees him as a good long-term replacement for the aging Rio Ferdinand and the injury-prone Nemanja Vidic.
Rami is one of the most consistent defenders in Spain, and it may take a bid of €25million, which would activate his release clause, to sign him from Valencia.
