Newly promoted Bluebirds take a look at former Chelsea star.
Cardiff City are considering a bid for Lille forward Salomon Kalou according to The Metro.
The Ivorian international left Chelsea last summer to join the French club. But the 27 year old has reportedly struggled to settle in his new country and is keen to make a return to the Premier League.
Kalou still carries a strong reputation after playing an important part of the Chelsea team for another of years.
The winger became known for his tricky dribbling and Cardiff believe Kalou could be the perfect player to help them stay in the Premier League.
Cardiff are on the lookout for new acquisitions after securing promotion to the top flight.
The club’s owner, Vincent Tan, has immediately promised manager Malky Mackay a transfer kitty of between £20-£25 million over the summer as they look to build a squad capable of avoiding relegation back down to the Championship.
Kalou’s agents have revealed that they are working hard behind the scenes in an attempt to return the player to English shores.
‘I’d love to go back to England,’ said Kalou.
‘I spent six seasons there and I am crazy about the Premier League.
‘Players’ careers change so quickly – you never know what will happen tomorrow.’
Arsenal were also linked with Kalou in recent weeks but it appears the Gunners have now pulled out of the race for player’s signature.
