Welsh rivals to compete for French international.
Premier League Welsh rivals Cardiff and Swansea could battle it out for Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 27-year-old has long been a prolific scorer in French football, starting his career with Saint Etienne, for whom he scored 49 goals in six seasons, before moving on to Lyon, where he has 74 goals in just four seasons.
Both Cardiff and Swansea are keen to add strikers to their squads this summer, and would be tempted to spend big for Gomis, who is valued by Lyon at £12million.
The Frenchman has been linked with Arsenal in the past, and may be tempted to challenge himself in the Premier League, after establishing himself as a leading player in Ligue 1.
Swansea have tried and failed in attempts to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea, but are keen to keep trying for a player to take the goals burden off current leading scorer Michu.
Cardiff, meanwhile, have been linked with former Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou, currently also in Ligue 1 with Lille, as they look to make an impression in this summer’s transfer market, backed by their wealthy Malaysian owners.
