However, Manchester City will miss out on Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.
Alvaro Negredo is expected to complete a £20 million move to Manchester City next week as Manuel Pellegrini plans for life without Carlos Tevez, the Daily Mail reports.
The Argentine striker left City last month for Juventus, leaving the Sky Blues with only two first team strikers but Pellegrini’s striking worries will be eased by the signing of Negredo.
The Spanish striker was fourth top goal scorer in La Liga last season with 25 goals for Sevilla and has been a target for Pellegrini ever since the Chilean was at former club Malaga.
Pellegrini will now get his man but is set to miss out on one of City’s main transfer targets this summer, Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.
The Sky Blues had targeted Cavani as a big money signing but decided not to pay Napoli’s £53 million asking price and the Uruguay international is now set to move to Paris St Germain.
Atletico Madrid are the other club that are chasing Negredo and could make a move for City striker Edin Dzeko now that their bid to sign Negredo looks doomed to fail.
While Pellegrini is happy to keep Dzeko, the striker wants first team football and could move to Atletico if a bid does come in for him.
