Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

West Brom are chasing former Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda on a free transfer, reports the Daily Mail.

The Frenchman is available on a Bosman transfer this summer following his release from the London club earlier in the window, and the Baggies are ready to take a chance on the ageing attacker. Having been exiled from the Chelsea first team for the majority of the past two seasons, Malouda has a lot to give, and he believes he is still capable of performing in the Premier League.

West Brom are currently running low on wide options, following the release of winger Jerome Thomas this summer, who has penned a deal at Premier League new-boys Crystal Palace. Showing interest in another former Chelsea star Salomon Kalou this summer, after having bids rejected by Lille for his services, manager Steve Clark feels the 33-year old winger still has what it takes, having worked with the two players during his time at Chelsea.

The Baggies have already signed one former Chelsea player this summer. Free agent striker Nicolas Anelka signed a one-year deal at the Hawthornes following his release from Italian champions Juventus. He could be a big factor in attracting both Malouda and Kalou to the Midlands club.

Fellow Premier League side West Ham have also shown an interest in Salomon Kalou, having seen a £2million offer turned down by the French club. It’s understood that the London club have offer Malouda a contract, as well as West Brom, in an attempt to bring the Frenchman to Upton Park.
