Brazilian stopper set to depart from QPR.
Arsenal are set to be disappointed once again in this summer’s transfer window after reports emerged that QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar is on the verge of securing a move to Italian side Fiorentina.
The Daily Star are reporting that the Brazilian stopper is close to agreeing a deal with the Serie A side and the move could be completed sooner rather than later.
Cesar has been linked with a number of top clubs this summer with QPR boss Harry Redknapp thought to have been keen to get him off the wage bill following the side’s relegation from the Premier League.
It is thought Cesar was close to joining Napoli, only for the club to baulk at his £90,000 a week wages, prompting them to instead pursue a loan deal for Liverpool’s Pepe Reina.
Arsenal were thought to have been keen on his signature as they look to bring in some competition for their young Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
Szczesny made a number of high profile errors last season, leading to question marks about whether the goalkeeper had the confidence of his defence.
Wenger has insisted Szczesny has a future at the club but is thought to be keen to add some competition to the ranks in order to push the youngster to the next level.
