Spaniards interested in Bosnian playmaker.
Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are said to be preparing to rival Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Roma attacking midfielder Miralem Pjanic, talkSPORT reports.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly interested in the Bosnian as he draws up a precautionary list of replacements for Gareth Bale should he depart fro Real Madrid this summer.
However, Atletico also have a big sack full of money of their own to spend following on from the sale of Radamel Falcao to Monaco last month, and are set to go head-to-head with the side from White Heart Lane to land Pjanic’s signature.
Pjanic has stated previously that he is solely focussed on the season ahead with Roma, and is looking to build on the good form of last year by adding to his three goals in 27 appearances.
“The atmosphere is good, we are working well and we will give our best to produce a better season than last year,” he said.
Pjanic began his career with French minnows Metz back in 2007 as a precociously talented teenager. His good form there saw him quickly move on to Lyon where he spent the next three years making 121 appearances and scoring 16 goals.
He joined Roma in the summer of 2011 and has been a key figure in their plans ever since.
