Blackpool boss Paul Ince has denied that the club has received any bids from fellow Championship side QPR for winger Matt Phillips, Sky Sports reports.

Reports have suggested that the Loftus Road outfit have tested the manager’s resolve with a £5 million bid for the Scotland international.

However, Ince has quickly moved to deny the speculation and has insisted he cannot wait to get the player back in action as he recovers from a broken arm suffered during the pre season.

He told The Gazette: “There’s nothing in it, as far as I know.

“Matt Phillips has not even started training yet. I knew there was interest from some clubs a couple of weeks ago. But look at our squad. Unless they come in with a major bid, he’s a Blackpool player.

“Unless the chairman has accepted a bid which I don’t know about, which I doubt, then there’s nothing in it. He’s a Blackpool player and that’s how it will stay.

“Matt’s a massive loss for us at the moment. We are really missing his quality, and you can understand why he’s being linked with clubs like QPR.

“At the moment, no-one has told me that QPR have bid, so he’ll be staying with me until they do.”
