Coach belives new style will bring success

The Catalan born Adelaide United Coach has told fans his Barcelona style ethos will pay dividends in the end.

The former Barca Academy coach wants fans to be able to enjoy watching his side play and believes the transformation into free flowing passing football is the best way to achieve that.

Speaking to The World Game Gombau said: “I come from Barcelona and it is only natural that I believe in a game of possession and patience. We want to produce a type of football that people will enjoy.

“I know Australian fans are used to a more British style of game but I hope they will support us and be patient with us because together we will should success to the club.

“I don’t mean me but the players, who are more important because they actually go out there and play. I only sit on the bench. I will provide a structure and I promise that we will work hard and I think we will be successful.”

Isaias Sanchez and Sergio Cirio have both been bought in from Spain to try and emulate the famous passing game.

Gombau’s side will be playing the trademark 4-3-3 formation that is so effective at the Nou Camp.

For players that don’t fit into the system, as the Spaniard has already stated, it will be a very steep learning curve or a very quick exit.
