tika-taka will always be played at Hindmarsh
Adelaide United Coach Josep Gomabau wants to create a brand new footballing Philosophy in South Australia, one that will be around long after he departs.
The former Barcelona Coach has tipped himself to transform the club in just two years, Gombau who worked extensively with the Youth system at the Nou Camp, wants to lay the foundations for a new attacking style of play for the next generation of Adelaide footballers.
Speaking to The World Game, he reiterated that although top class plays like Xavi and Lionel Messi are important, the system can work without them.
” Of course those top class players help a lot. In a game you may not have a solution to the problem and a player like Lionel Messi can arrive and make something out of nothing.
“But you can play the same style. The style that is to start from the back, to have the ball, to play with the team in unison and to press when you lose the ball, of course we can do that.
“We will try to keep the ball, to have the most time possible with possession, to play beautiful football, attacking football but this requires time. I am satisfied that the players are concentrating and enjoying it.
“In my first season it’s more important to do this than to win games.”
