The 22 year old Belgian has struggled to make an impact in the Blues first team set-up this term and is still yet to complete a full 90 minute run-out and has started just two Premier League fixtures this season.
De Bruyne enjoyed a successful season long loan spell at Werder Bremen last term and could well join fellow team-mate Thibaut Courtois at the Vicente Calderon.
The young keeper is into his third season on loan at Atletico Madrid and may well end up securing a permanent switch to the in-form side.
De Bruyne has apparently held talks with Atletico after Jose Mourinho gave his blessing to a move during the upcoming January transfer window.
Diego Simeone’s side are level on points with Barcelona in the La Liga table after collecting an impressive 13 wins from 15 fixtures. Atletico Madrid have sealed Europa League and Copa del Rey triumphs in their past two campaigns and are certainly a team ‘on the up’.
