The Daily Mirror claims that a £40m bid for Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata is in the offing, with David Moyes ready to offer the Spanish international a four year contract.
Man United have already made contact with the 25 year old’s representatives and the Chelsea midfielder wants to push through a deal as soon as possible so as to speedily clinch the regular first team football that is key to his ambitions for a prominent role in Vicente del Bosque’s 2014 World Cup squad.
David Moyes will then make a £20m offer for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye, an offer that will test the St James’ Park side’s resolve, the bid being more than four times the fee the Magpies paid Lille for the French international back in June 2011.
PSG are also said to be keen on the cultured midfielder but Man United will hope to win the race for the in-form Newcastle United star.
Man United are also set to make a move for £7m rated Bayern Munich defender Dante, who has already admitted to interest from David Moyes in acquiring his services, though some believe that the apparent interest shown by the Old Trafford club could be a ploy to secure a new lucrative Allianz Arena contract.
Moyes is likely to see Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand leave in the summer so there is certainly a need to bring in central defensive additions though one would have to wonder why 30 year old Dante would entertain leaving a Bayern Munich side that he helped secure a treble with in his debut season at the club last term.
