The Spain international, who is currently out with an ankle injury, was the subject of reported interest in his services of late from big-spending Russian Premier League outfit Anzhi Makhachkala, with the Russian transfer window remaining open until midnight on Monday night.
However, despite those stories in the British media, the Swans’ stand-in boss is adamant that their star man will not be leaving the Liberty Stadium in February.
“Michu is the type of player who will attract interest and he is a good player,” said the Swans head coach. “He needs to get himself fit and that’s got to be his first priority,” said Monk.
“We’re not a selling club and players who have been sold, it has been for the right price. We’ve had no offers and Michu should concentrate on getting back on that pitch for us. He’s a big part of our plans going forward.”
Michu, 27, has registered six goals and five assists in total in his 19 matches in all competitions this season.
