United’s new boss eager to sign up Dutch international as Shaw talks stall.
Check in to Netherlands vs Chile
Manchester United’s new boss Louis Van Gaal has found the Red Devils a cheaper alternative to 18-year old England sensation Luke Shaw, reports the Daily Mirror.
The 62-year old manager is impressed with Dutch defender Daley Blind, after seeing him at close quarters as coach of the Netherlands national team at the 2014 World Cup and is ready to plot a swoop.
Little known Blind was also named the Dutch player of the season whilst playing in a defensive midfield role at Ajax last season, and is known to offer great versatility.
He can play at left back, centre-back and in midfield, and with Southampton demanding more than £30 million for their prized asset Shaw, United could well settle for the £12 million rated Blind.
In fact, certain reports suggest that the Red Devils will sign Blind irrespective of the outcome in their pursuit of Luke Shaw in order to replace the ageing Patrice Evra and the unconvincing Alexander Buttner at left-back for next season.
