Miranda could be available for a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Manchester United are monitoring the situation of Atletico Madrid’s centre-back Joao Miranda with a view to a transfer, reports the Metro.
The 29-year old centre-back’s future at the Spanish capital is on tenterhooks as he looks to engineer a move to the high paying Premier League, and the Red Devils could be interested in snapping him up.
United’s new boss Louis van Gaal is in need of a world class centre-back to shore up his fragile defence, and Miranda could be available for around £23 million.
The Brazilian defender was brilliant for Atletico last season, and played a vital part in the club’s La Liga win and run to the Champions League final.
Van Gaal has a number of centre-back targets lined up including the likes of Thomas Vermaelen and Mats Hummels, but Miranda could well be top of that list.
The Red Devils might have to fight off competition from Chelsea for the solid defender though as Blues’ boss Jose Mourinho is also a big fan of Miranda.
