CaughtOffside Vote For The Best Premier League Signing Of The Summer: New Chelsea Stars Prove Popular

The CaughtOffside team discuss who has made the best signing in the Premier League.

The CaughtOffside writers vote for who they believe to be the best signing in the Premier League so far this summer.

Adam Davies:

Ander Herrera could be the midfield player Manchester United have been crying out for since around 2010 when people began to realise that their chant didn’t ring true: Anderson doesn’t “sh*t on” Cesc Fabregas. Fabregas himself will undoubtedly fit in extremely well having previously excelled in the Premier League, but I’m reluctant to make too optimistic predictions for Diego Costa given the recent fortunes of big name Chelsea striker signings.
However, it’s hard not to be most excited about watching Alexis Sanchez in action for a number of reasons. His pace will create space for Arsenal’s attacking midfield, which in turn ought to make the whole team play better.

Tom Seymour:

Cesc Fabregas. If the Blues are to win the title – which I think they will – expect this new £30m man to play a big part, with his eight previous years experience in the Premier League with the Gunners sure to be crucial.

Glen Harrington:

Diego Costa – As mentioned earlier, he is the missing link in Chelsea’s team, and if his sparkling pre-season form is anything to go by he could be a big hit in the Premier League.

Robert Summerscales:

Romelu Lukaku. He bagged 15 goals during his loan spell at Everton last season and I, along with many Chelsea fans, am struggling to understand why Jose Mourinho sanctioned his sale. Surely he is better than a 36-year-old Didier Drogba? Swansea’s capture of Gylfi Sigurdsson is great business too.

Mark Apostolou:

Ander Herrera – Can see the Spaniard pulling the strings in the Man United midfield and his pre-season form certainly suggests that Louis van Gaal has a hugely influential performer in the former Athletic Bilbao

Steven Green:

Alexis Sanchez – it’s so exciting to have him in the Premier League and he’s definitely give Arsenal an added edge. However, can he do it on a wet Wednesday night in Stoke? It’s a cliche, but it’s true – it’ll be a whole new challenge for him.

Mark Brus:

It’s between Alexis Sanchez and Diego Costa for me. Both are a class above what both Arsenal and Chelsea previously had upfront and will bring real quality to the Premier League.

David Power:

Diego Costa, closely followed by Cesc Fabregas. The Spaniards have been signed to fire Chelsea to the title, and I reckon they’ll do just that. In terms of a bargain signing, Lukasz Fabianski is a very good ‘keeper, and he’ll do well at Swansea.
